COVID-19 Response Plan


We’ve all been thrown a massive curveball called COVID-19. Like you, Foster’s Plumbing is monitoring and adapting to the latest news regarding the virus and being vigilant to inform all employees of the risks associated. At Foster’s Plumbing we have designed a plan to take the right measures and do what we can to control and stop the spread of COVID-19.


The health and safety of our customers and our team is important to us, therefore this plan is designed to educate all Foster’s Plumbing employees, visitors and clients on the correct hygienic practices whilst in their homes, in the office, or on third party and client sites.

The Foster’s staff have been briefed on all of the relevant information and procedures to follow the Department of Health and governmental advice. It is Foster’s duty of care to ensure our boys stay safe and so do you! 

If you’ve returned from overseas in the last few weeks or are feeling unwell, we’re happy to  reschedule and rebook at a time that’s convenient for you. Importantly, it’s business as usual here at Foster’s Plumbing.


The coronavirus pandemic originated in China back in 2019, and was found to cause a respiratory disease called COVID-19. 

This spreads like the flu from person to person, and those affected will experience symptoms such as fever, cough, tiredness, and shortness of breath. 

To limit the spread, it is advised that we all practice social distancing (1.5m apart from each other) and practise good hygiene, with constant washing and sanitising of hands.

Most of the infected have mild to moderate symptoms and are likely to fully recover. However, the people most at risk are the elderly or those with chronic medical conditions, to which they develop more serious illnesses such as pneumonia and other complications, which are deadly.

It is important to note that most people who exhibit cold or flu-like symptoms are likely not to have COVID-19, however it is important to limit the spread and keep practising good hygiene.

Infection prevention measures

Foster’s Plumbing will ensure that all staff implement good hygiene and practice inflection control by;

  • Promoting frequent and thorough hand washing for all workers, clients and visitors by providing a safe place to clean your wants with soap and running water, as well as providing hand sanitisers around the work space which contain at least 60% alcohol.
  • Encourage workers or clients to stay home when sick
  • Encourage hygiene etiquette including covering while coughing and sneezing
  • Provide workers, clients and the public with trash disposals
  • Discourage hot desks and the use of other people phones, officers, and work equipment where possible
  • Maintain housekeeping practices including routine cleaning, sanitising surfaces and equipment
  • Foster’s plumbing will use only EPA approved disinfectant labels (those that claim against emerging viral pathogens) when choosing cleaning agents.
  • Advising and reminding workers and customers of these procedures and requirements 

Identification and isolation of sick people

It is critical to identify those who are potentially infectious as they must seek medical help and be contained in self isolation immediately. This is done to protect the livelihood of workers, clients, visitors, and others at the worksite.

Foster’s Plumbing encourages all employees to self monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. If an employee does experience any symptoms, Foster’s requires them to report it instantly, and will be required to self isolate. 

The following measure will be undertaken if an employee is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms;

  • Move infectious people to an isolated location away from others
  • If there is no isolation locations, designated areas where sick people can be stationed with closed doors and windows
  • Limit the spread of respiratory secretions by infectious people by using face masks to cover the mouth and nose
  • Arrange their transport to a doctor or their home
  • A record must be kept of those who exhibit symptoms or become sick and leave the workplace. It is important to note what rooms they have been in and who they have been in contact with
  • Once the infected person has left the workplace, remaining employees should ensure that their work station and communal areas have been cleaned and sanitised.

Workplace flexibilities and protection

Foster’s Plumbing will;

  • Actively encourage sick employees to stay home
  • Ensure that employees are aware of sick leave policies and that these policies are flexible and consistent with Fair Work and Health Guidance
  • Discuss the importance of sick employees staying home as well as develop non-punitive leave policies with liaising companies and contract or temporary workers
  • Recognise and maintain flexible policies that permit employee leave if they need to take care of a sick family member
  • Be aware and respect employee concerns regarding pay, leave, safety, health and other issues relating to COVID-19
  • Provide adequate training and educational material regarding essential job functions, worker health (proper hygiene practices and safety), and workplace controls (including PPE)
